Estrella de Diego offered the lecture Arriba y abajo. Picasso y las culturas populares (Up and Down. Picasso and the Popular Cultures), related to the exhibition Picasso. Ceramics and Tradition. De Diego is Professor of Art History at Universidad Complutense de Madrid. She has been a guest lecturer at many universities in Spain and in other countries. She has held several posts throughout her career, including the King Juan Carlos I of Spain Chair in Spanish Culture and Civilization at New York University (1998-99). Her research focuses on gender theory, visual and postcolonial studies and the origins of modernity. She has curated many exhibitions, including Warhol on Warhol (La Casa Encendida, Madrid), and has written several books, such as Tristísimo Warhol (Editorial Siruela, Madrid, 1999).
