The museum begins in the street
Social participation project
A social participation project organised in connection with the exhibition Joel Meyerowitz Europe 1966–1967 on view at the Museo Picasso Málaga from June to December 2024.
This project invites participants, through photography, to observe the place where they live carefully and slowly, focusing on the moments and little things that make it unique to each one of them. The resulting photographic mosaic created from this collection of intimate and individual views of Málaga is displayed in the city’s streets, encouraging passers-by to also observe their immediate surroundings more keenly.
The museum begins in the street is being organised in connection with the exhibition dedicated to Joel Meyerowitz, an artist for whom photography is a window onto the extraordinary aspects of everyday life and the city is a privileged space. It addresses the challenge of exploring the city viewed as a place that tells stories; for, as Meyerowitz states, you only need to pay attention to be able to capture them.
