NEW HONORARY TRUSTEES OF THE MUSEO PICASSO MALAGA

The Board of Trustees of the Fundación Museo Picasso Malaga. Legado Paul, Christine y Bernard Ruiz-Picasso has appointed Ángeles González-Sinde, the Spanish Minister of Culture, Francisco de la Torre, Mayor and Chairman of Malaga City Council, and Salvador Pendón, Chairman of the Malaga Provincial Council, as Trustees of the foundation.

At its plenary meeting held on 28th June, the Board of Trustees of the Fundación Museo Picasso Malaga. Legado Paul, Christine y Bernard Ruiz-Picasso unanimously elected to appoint the Spanish Minister of Culture, &Aacute";"ngeles González-Sinde, the Mayor of Malaga and Chairman of Malaga City Council, Francisco de la Torre, and the Chairman of the Provincial Council of Malaga, Salvador Pendón, as Honorary Trustees of the foundation. Due to their professional commitments the new trustees signed their acceptance documents separately and in the presence of a notary public. They were appointed for a maximum term of five years, after which they are eligible to stand for re-election.

On Monday, 13th December, the Mayor of Malaga, Francisco de la Torre, attended his first meeting of the Board of Trustees of which his is now a member. The meeting was chaired by Paulino Plata, the head of the Ministry of Culture of the Junta de Andalucía and President of the Board of Trustees, and by Bernard Ruiz-Picasso, President of the Museo Picasso Malaga&rsquo";"s Executive Council.

The Museo Picasso Malaga is governed by the Fundación Museo Picasso Malaga. Legado Paul, Christine y Bernard Ruiz-Picasso, a body that has full authority over the Museum&rsquo";“s collection and holdings, and which also owns the institution&rsquo”;"s headquarters, the Palacio de Buenavista. The purpose of the foundation is to ensure that the work of Pablo Picasso is conserved, exhibited, studied and circulated. It considers the Museo Picasso Malaga to be a centre for cultural and social projection and promotion, which people will visit not only to enjoy their heritage, but also as participants in learning activities and the beneficiaries of its cultural services.

The President of the Autonomous Government of Andalusia (Junta de Andalucía), José Antonio Griñán, and Christine Ruiz-Picasso are the Honorary Presidents of the foundation. The Junta de Andalucía&rsquo";“s Minister for Culture, Paulino Plata Cánovas, is the President of the foundation&rsquo”;"s Board of Trustees, which is currently composed of twenty-three members, with Christine and Bernard Ruiz-Picasso and Juan Alfonso Martos as life trustees.

Christine Ruiz-Picasso is a trustee-legatee, while the first vice-president is Bartolomé Ruiz González, General Secretary of Cultural Policy of the Junta de Andalucía, and Bernard Ruiz-Picasso is the second vice-president.
