MUSEO PICASSO MÁLAGA CELEBRATES ITS 14TH ANNIVERSARY WITH A FLAMENCO GUITAR CONCERT AND A RANGE OF WEEKEND ACTIVITIES.

On 27th October 2017 Museo Picasso Málaga will be celebrating the anniversary of its opening, fourteen years ago. A performance by flamenco guitarist Daniel Casares, a day of activities based on the exhibition We are Completely Free. Women Artists and Surrealism, and a painting competition are all on the agenda for next weekend.

The weekend will kick off on the evening of Friday 27th October, at 9.00pm, with Flamenco guitarist Daniel Casares, who will be presenting his latest work, ‘Picassares’- his own personal tribute to his fellow malagueño, Pablo Picasso - in the MPM Auditorium. Casares, on the guitar, will be accompanied by bailaor Sergio Aranda, singer and second guitarist Manuel Peralta, Nelson Doblas, on the violin and Miguel Ortíz “Nene” on percussion.

Coinciding with the recent opening of the exhibition We are Completely Free. Women Artists and Surrealism, the museum has organized a set of activities for visitors of all ages on Saturday 28th October. From 10.00am to 2.00pm, children and their families will be able to take part in two specially designed workshops in the MPM garden.

For adult visitors, at 1.00pm there will be a guided tour of the exhibition, given by one of the museum’s educational team. In the evening, at 6.00pm, Conversations with… will welcome micro-poet, singer and composer Ajo, who will give a personal tour of the exhibition. Ajo (María José Martín de la Hoz) is an agitator and referent in Madrid underground culture. She has published several books of micro-poems and performed numerous live shows.

On Sunday 29th October, for the fourth year in a row, Asociación de Artistas Plásticos de Málaga (Aplama) and Museo Picasso Málaga will be jointly organizing the open air painting competition Painting Outside. In both categories – adults and children – the choice of technique is free. Participants must bring the materials they need for their work, which should reflect the surroundings and the landscape around Museo Picasso Málaga. In the adult category, there is a first prize of 1,500€, a second prize of 1,000€, and a third prize of 500€. In the children’s category, for 7- to 12-year-olds, the first prize is an easel, a canvas, and a paint set; the second prize is a canvas and a paint set, and the third prize is a paint set and a canvas.
