Collage and mixed media workshop with Isa Nieto

The Museo Picasso Málaga is hosting this activity in connection with the exhibition Farah Atassi. Genius Loci. Participants will start by observing Atassi’s works, paying special attention to her use of geometric patterns, formal repetition, colour organisation and the evocation of indoor settings inspired by textile design.

Over the course of two and a half hours, the people who sign up for the workshop will produce an individual piece of art combining modified paper with graphic and compositional techniques. Using a limited palette and stamps, pencils and other resources, they will create personalised patterns which they then transform into geometric elements to construct a visual environment. Each participant will incorporate a central figure – human, animal or object – into this space, completing the scene with graphic details and reflecting on the relationship between form, surface and visual narrative.

Isa Nieto is an illustrator and muralist who trained in the fine arts and specialises in illustration and graphic design. After more than a decade of experience working for advertising agencies, her current professional practice involves combining traditional and digital techniques, with a visual language that straddles traditional craftsmanship and contemporary art. Besides working on paper and canvas, she has found mural painting to be a medium for expanding her illustrations on a large scale. In 2024 she was awarded the national prize in the Applied Illustration category by the Madrid Association of Illustrators.
