Daniel Casares in concert

Picassares is the title of the latest album by guitarist Daniel Casares, in which he pays tribute to his fellow Malagueño, Pablo Picasso. Casares displays his flamenco side in this show, playing passages from the life of Picasso in a highly personal way. A malagueña conjures up the artist’s birth, while the chanson París evokes his death. Minotauro, Azul, and Caballo de Guernica, are among the other pieces Casares will be playing in the four concerts programmed at the MPM Auditorium.

Daniel Casares was born in Málaga in 1980, and began his musical career at the early age of eleven. At sixteen, he became the youngest guitarist ever to be awarded the prestigious Bordón Minero de la Unión prize. He went on to win more awards, gain recognition, and tour all over the world. He has lived in Brazil and New York and has been inspired by other forms of music and culture, but his greatest sources are the maestros Paco de Lucía and Camarón.
