Once again this year, Museo Picasso Málaga took part in an event that keeps the city wide awake until the early hours. The gallery open the doors of the Palacio de Buenavista free of charge, inviting visitors in to celebrate art and culture.
Inside, as well as the permanent collection they were able to visit the two temporary exhibitions currently on at the museum. The first, Jackson Pollock’s Mural. Energy Made Visible, brought the monumental work by Jackson Pollock (1912-1956) to Spain for the first - and possibly last – time. It is considered by many to be one of the most important works of US modern art.
The second exhibition, Eye Games. Collection, dealed with the representation of the gaze in Pablo Picasso’s work, with forty-four artworks from the museum’s own holdings in which one could appreciate how rich this theme is in the artist’s oeuvre.
At 9.30pm, the vibrant rhythm of The Farataos Jazz Band colored the night in the garden of the Palacio de Buenavista. Jazz, dixieland and swing to travel to New Orleans in the twenties.
Visitors to the Palacio de Buenavista were also able to enjoy its fine architecture, in which the Renaissance and the contemporary stand side by side, and they delved into the very roots of the city thanks to the valuable archaeological site located within the building, and which holds over 2,600 years of history.
