MaF – Málaga de Festival

Esteve Riambau, Maite Méndez, Juan Cerezo and Corina Oproae are just some of the participants in a programme of talks centred in particular on the writer Milan Kundera, who died in 2023,

The French-based Czech writer Milan Kundera (Brno, 1929–Paris, 2023), one of the foremost names in twentieth-century literature, is the main focus of the five activities hosted by Málaga de Festival (MaF) at one of its venues, the Christine-Ruiz Picasso auditorium at the Museo Picasso Málaga. The first of these activities, part of the Ciclo ’25 del 21’ | Milan Kundera: La belleza en la falta de Esperanza (’25 of 21’ cycle | Milan Kundera: The beauty in the lack of hope), is scheduled for Tuesday, February 25 at 7.30 p.m. Juan Cerezo and Corina Oproae will discuss the author of The Unbearable Lightness of Being (1984) in a talk entitled ‘La persistencia de Kundera, el creador total’ (The persistence of Kundera, the total creator).

A double session will be held on Wednesday February 26, also as part of the ’25 of 21’ cycle | Milan Kundera: The beauty in the lack of hope. The film The Unbearable Lightness of Being, directed by Philip Kaufman in 1987 and starring Daniel Day-Lewis, Juliette Binoche and Lena Olin, will be screened at 5.30 p.m., followed at 8.30 p.m. by a talk with Esteve Riambau and Maite Méndez, moderated by Cristina Consuegra.

A conversation with the philosopher José Carlos Ruiz will take place on Saturday, March 1 at the Christine Ruiz-Picasso auditorium.
