Contemporary mythologies

June —— December 2025

Social inclusion project focused on mythology and mythological accounts based on works by Picasso included in the exhibition Pablo Picasso: Structures of Invention. The Unity of a Life’s Work.

Throughout his career, Picasso used figures such as the Minotaur, nymphs, fauns and centaurs to reflect on the human condition, the creative drive and existential conflicts. He also experimented with formats such as ceramics, which brought him into direct contact with the Mediterranean tradition.

Contemporary mythologies is a project designed in two phases. In the first, participants get to create large-format invented mythological characters in plaster. The second phase focuses on collectively creating stories based on these characters, bringing together words and images, imagination and memory. The resulting collective stories can be enjoyed by participants, family members and the general public at the Museum. If you are interested in taking part with your centre or association, please contact educacion@mpicassom.org.
