For the 2021-22 school year, Museo Picasso Málaga is offering a new educational programme, set in a safe and pleasant environment. This wide range of activities inside the museum is based on the Dialogues with Picasso. Collection 2020-2023 layout of the collection, and on the temporary exhibition The Paris of Brassaï. Photographs of the City Picasso Loved

The price of the workshops is 3 € per student (in Spanish) and 5 € in another language. Teachers access free of charge. To book, please full this formular (in English).

ACTIVITIES BASED ON DIALOGUES WITH PICASSO. COLLECTION 2020-2023

PARTICIPATORY VISITS  

Three Graces, Musketeer with sword and a tapestry reproduction of Les Demoiselles d’Avignon, are just some of the works that participants in this activity will get to know. They will be the basis for examining some of the key features that have made Picasso one of the leading figures in the history of art.

Languages: Spanish, English, and French. These activities are free in Spanish for schools in the Andalusian compulsory education system, with discounts available for all other schools.

PRACTICE A LANGUAGE AT THE MUSEUM. BILINGUAL PARTICIPATORY VISITS
For Second and Third stages of Primary, and Secondary and Bachillerato levels.

A conversation about art inside the museum can be a unique chance to practice the foreign language pupils are studying at school, whether it’s English or French. The activity is adapted to the different academic levels and costs 75€ (maximum of 20 pupils per group). Languages available: English/Spanish and French/Spanish

THINKING AND PRODUCING. WORKSHOP VISIT

In this activity we follow the steps involved in the art production process. Participants are presented with a creative challenge and must search for novel and innovative solutions based on the inspiration of artists and on guidelines that help them make optimal use of the materials available to them. Collaboration is also an important feature and can increase their chances of success with the challenge they have been set. Book a day and time for your class visit here:    

- Paper Faces
Workshop visit for Second and Third year of Infant school and First stage of Primary.

Fauns, warriors, the minotaur, and musketeers feature in many of the paintings by Picasso that are on display at MPM. They will all serve as inspiration to the children so they can create mask-like faces with which they will explore drawing and collage techniques.

- Creating an engraving
Workshop visit for Second and Third stages of Primary 
During their visit to the MPM permanent collection, pupils will get the chance to explore the engraving technique, which featured so often in Picasso’s work. Along with the artworks, they will be able to see the printing press belonging to the Crommelynck brothers with which Picasso printed over a thousand engravings. In the workshop, their work will be based on creating an image on a matrix plate, inking it, and using it to print an engraving.

-Chalcography
Workshop visit for First and Second stages of Secondary, and Bachillerato.

In this activity, we will work on the basic concepts of chalcography, or copperplate engraving. During the visit to the permanent collection, we will discover part of Picasso’s large graphic output. After working in the museum exhibition rooms, pupils will be given an exercise in which they will make an engraved or dry-point print, working with burins, acetates, inks, and Bristol paper.

EXPLORE 
For Second and Third stages of Primary, all stages of Secondary, and Bachillerato

The aim of this tour of a selection of works from the exhibition is to show pupils the prolific work of Brassaï, exploring different aspects of his career as an artist and his link to Pablo Picasso. The activity is adapted to different academic levels.

A unique opportunity for your pupils to practice the foreign language they are studying, with a debate on art in the museum exhibition rooms. These activities are adapted to different academic levels.

- Chimera  
For Second and Third year of Infant school, and first stage of Primary

We will be exploring the weird and wonderful sculptures and photos on display in the exhibition The Paris of Brassaï. Photographs of the City Picasso Loved. Participants will use their imagination to design fantastic characters, using drawing and collage.

- My Dream City
For Second and Third stage of Primary
Based on the photographs, books and drawings in the exhibition, pupils will travel back to the city of Paris during the first half of the 20th century, with its inhabitants, streets, and buildings. Afterwards, in the workshop, they will be able to design models of their own dream city.

- Cyanotypes. Light and shadows
For First and Second stage of Secondary, and Bachillerato
In this workshop we will examine photography and its origins, through the works by Brassaï on display in the museum. The youngsters will also have the chance to work with photosensitive emulsion and ultraviolet light, using them to make cyanotypes.
