At the start of every school year, Museo Picasso Málaga lines up new projects for the current season, providing an interesting occasion for pupils to explore various techniques, disciplines and themes.

MPM’s programme for schools comprises guided tours, workshop-visits and special activities for teachers. Each of these activities is adapted to the specific characteristics of the group and, is offered as of Primary key stage 3 and upwards, they can also be conducted in English, French, German or bilingually, making the activity an opportunity for pupils to practice the foreign languages they are learning at school.

MAKING ART

These activities focus on the artistic production process. Pupils will discuss works of art In the exhibition rooms, then in the workshop, they will explore different materials and reflect on what they have created. Check out the various options and book the one best suited to your needs.

Monday to Thursday: 10.00am, 11.30am, 1.00pm, 3.00pm. Fridays until 1.00pm.

The workshop-visits last an hour and a half and cost 3 € per child (5 € in English, French, German and Bilingual). Teachers are free of charge.

1. About PABLO PICASSO. PERMANENT COLLECTION:

In these activities, we follow the various stages of the artistic production process. Participants will be faced with creative challenges. They will be asked to find novel, innovative solutions based on the inspiration of artists and on guidelines that will enable them to make the most of the materials at their disposal. It will be important for them to work in a collaborative fashion, as this is likely to increase their chances of successfully dealing with the challenge that has been set.  Book the date and time of your class visit here.

- Faces, face masks...
For 2nd and 3rd-year Kindergarten, and 1st stage of Primary
Musketeers, birds and fauns are combined sometimes with real things, sometimes imaginary ones. They are just a few of the characters that feature in the works by Picasso on display in the museum’s collection and they will serve as inspiration for participants to create mask-like faces and explore drawing and collage techniques.

- Paint yourself
For 2nd and 3rd stages of Primary 
After visiting the museum’s permanent collection, pupils will be able to explore portraiture, which features so prominently in Picasso’s work. In the workshop they will work on the self-portrait, in groups and on their own, investigating the possibilities of drawing on pieces of methacrylate.

- Cubist portraits 
For 1st and 2nd stages of Secondary and Bachillerato
The aim of this activity is to work on the basic concepts of cubism which Picasso developed in his work. Using the human figure as our starting point, we will word on showing one view from several different angles, the fragmentation of faces, and the random application of colour. After their work in the exhibition rooms, the pupils will go to the workshop area to do an exercise on creating a cubist picture based on their own self-portrait.

2. THOUGHT AND PRODUCTION. A WORKSHOP VISIT TO THE EXHIBITION GENEALOGIES OF ART, OR THE HISTORY OF ART AS VISUAL ART.

- Drawing ourselves / each other 
For second and third grade of Infant level, and first stage of Primary level.
Based on the landscapes and maps on display in the
Genealogies of Art exhibition, we will use nature as a way to talk about ourselves through drawing and collage.

- Ways to paint
For second and third stage of Primary level.
Cézanne, Matisse, Kandinsky and Picasso explored different ways to represent the world around them. After visiting the rooms housing the Genealogies of Art exhibition, they will investigate in the workshop area the different pictorial languages employed by early 20th-century artists.

- Paintings to be read 
For first and second cycle of Secondary level and Bachillerato.
In the works on display in the exhibition, letters of the alphabet serve as a common thread for helping us understand 20th- and 21st-century artistic ideas. After visiting the exhibition, the participants will look at the relationship between images and words, using the collage technique.

INTERACTIVE TOURS

1. EXPLORE PICASSO. INTERACTIVE TOURS OF THE MUSEO PICASSO MÁLAGA COLLECTION. 
As from second stage of Primary level. 
In a participatory visit to the rooms that house the permanent collection, pupils will be able to look at and discuss Picasso’s work, the history of art and any other issues connected with their own interests. A member of the educational staff will provide the link between the artworks and the participants, grouping together pupils’ different opinions and thoughts. A look at the museum’s permanent collection to discover Picasso’s works and talk about issues relating to modern art.

This tour is free in Spanish for schools in the Andalusian compulsory state education system, and a discount is available for all other schools. In other languages (English, French German and Italian) the tour costs 85€.
Monday to Friday at 10.00am, 11.00am, 12.00 noon and 1.00pm.

2. EXPLORE GENEALOGIES OF ART, OR THE HISTORY OF ART AS VISUAL ART. A PARTICIPATIVE TOUR OF THE TEMPORARY EXHIBITION.
For second and third cycle of Primary level, and Secondary and Bachillerato levels.
The aim of this visit is to further attempt to describe the history of art in a visual manner, by means of a participative discussion that focusses on works by Cézanne, Matisse, Mondrian, Giacometti and Kandinsky. This activity also involves jointly creating a genealogical tree of the history of art, based on discussion and interpretation of artistic images.

3. BILINGUAL PARTICIPATORY TOURS OF THE MUSEO PICASSO MÁLAGA COLLECTION
For second and third stage of Primary, and Secondary and Bachillerato levels.
A conversation about art in the museum can be a unique chance to practice the foreign language pupils are studying at school, be it English, French, German, Dutch or Italian. This activity costs 80€. 

Languages: English, French, German and Italian.
Monday to Friday at 10.00am 11.00am, 12.00am and 1.00pm.
