After their work in the exhibition rooms, the pupils will go to the workshop area to do an exercise on creating a cubist picture based on their own self-portrait.

About exhibition CALDER-PICASSO:

DRAWINGS IN SPACE

The use of lines is an important element in Picasso’s and Calder’s work, as can be seen in some of the works in the exhibition. Afterwards, in the workshop, the youngsters will depict objects that are solid and transparent at the same time, using volume and empty space.

ANIMAL WORLD
For 2nd and 3rd stages of Primary
Ever since they were very young, both Picasso and Calder were fascinated by animals. Cats, horses, bulls and birds were part of both artists’ creative universe. Inspired by their work, participants will use the assemblage technique to create sculptures out of cardboard by folding, cutting and connecting different pieces.

FROM SCULPTURE TO DRAWING
For second and third stage of Primary, and Secondary and Bachillerato levels.
Calder worked on a series of compositions that explore the concept of two-dimensional painting, as well as balance and movement.
