Jazz at MPM

Tom Harrell

1 Oct. 2019
MPM Auditorium | 9pm

The Museo Picasso Málaga auditorium is programming jazz again this Autumn, with the 10th edition of an unmissable cycle for lovers of this musical genre.

Since the late 80s, trumpeter Tom Harrell has been one of the leading composers, improvisers and jazz orchestra conductors. In his new work Infinity, Harrell and his band combine complex compositions, seductive rhythms, advanced harmonic concepts, vibrant solos and inspiration, in an album that transcends the language of jazz. This is perhaps Harrell’s most imaginative recording yet, with pianoless arrangements and a frontline of sax and guitar, which is uncommon in his work.

Tom Harrell: trumpet and flugelhorn
Mark Turner: tenor sax
Ugonna Okegwo: bass
Charles Altura: guitar
Johnathan Blake: drums

The second concert in the cycle brings another leading figure of the contemporary jazz scene to the MPM Auditorium: pianist Fred Hersch

In 2010, Museo Picasso Málaga began to schedule jazz as part of its cultural activities and considers that the jazz beat shares with Picasso a relevant, untameable and ever-evolving spirit.

Price: 10 euros per person, per concert.

Tickets on sale here and the museum ticket office.
